My students share iPads with other students across the school, so it's really important for them to log off Google Docs/Drive at the end of a session so that others cannot access their account. I struggled at first to find an easy way to do this, so here's a quick step by step explanation. You could put this up on the IWB for students to follow:
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
I hope this helps your students to learn the process and keep their work secure.
Thank you! Had me stumped :)

ReplyDeleteAs a student, I would like to thank you for this great instruction to log out the Google doc file after end of the session as well. It is important to know. By the way, I think every student should know the system. Thanks!
We need one click sign out...
ReplyDeleteThere are a hand full of i pads that will not log off. After we log off, and you go to add user and log it, it defaults back to the account and gets stuck on the first user. How do I fix this?
ReplyDeleteHi, You have to go remove them from the device in the docs app (as has been well illustrated in above posts) and then go to the settings app and click on safari. Once there scroll down to the bottom and click clear history and website data. This will prevent them from being logged back in as per default. I don't know of an easier way to do this - it's a real pain.
DeleteThis is not enough. I just tried this with my first group of students and when you click back on the Docs app, it will list the last user and not prompt for a password when clicked on. Then "voila" the last user is logged back in. The user needs to be removed with the steps outlined above AND the app needs to be swipe-closed by doubleclicking the home button.
ReplyDeleteHi, did all that plus removing the app and rebooting and it’s still not working. I’m using the ipad pro. Thank you
